Nursing College, Arnav Institute
Satrikh, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India Ongoing
The brief
The Arnav Institute nursing college is a three-storey training campus designed to prepare students for healthcare careers, combining academic teaching with the practical spaces nursing education demands. Set on an expansive site at Satrikh, Barabanki, the building keeps its form low and legible while leaving generous open ground around it. It is currently under construction.
The challenge
A nursing college combines classrooms, laboratories, demonstration and training spaces with the circulation and safety needs of a busy teaching institution. On this Barabanki campus the design had to house those varied functions in a clear, navigable building while giving the institute a professional, trustworthy presence. The practice also designed Arnav Institute's teaching hospital — the 50-bed CNS Hospital — so the college was planned with an understanding of the wider medical-education environment it belongs to.
What makes it special
The building presents an ordered, warm-toned institutional façade with a formal entrance and regular bays that suit a medical-education setting. Designing both the Nursing College and its associated teaching hospital (CNS Hospital) for Arnav Institute reflects the practice's combined experience across education and healthcare — a genuine advantage for a nursing institution, where teaching and clinical spaces are closely linked.
